The Olive Tree has been associated with the Benedictine Monks of New Norcia since the original grove was established in 1886.
New Norcia is still famous for its olive oil (which was awarded a medal at the 1908 Franco-British Exhibition in London). More than 600 trees are harvested annually.
New Norcia’s olive oil recently won ‘Best in Show’, ‘Best WA Oil of Show’ and a Gold Medal at the 2019 West Australian Olive Awards. It also won ‘Silver’ and ‘Champion WA Oil’ at the Australian International Awards 2019.
