Keynote Speaker: Prof. Paul Tyson is a leading Australian philosopher, whose researches have focused on the encounter between Christianity, modernity and post-modernity, primarily from a metaphysical and epistemological perspective. His book publications include Defragmenting Modernity: Reintegrating Knowledge with Wisdom, Belief with Truth, and Reality with Being (2017), Returning to Reality: Christian Platonism for Our Times (2014) and Faith’s Knowledge: Explorations into the Theory and Application of Theological Epistemology (2013). He has taught at the University of Queensland, the University of Nottingham and the Australian Catholic University, and is currently Director of the Emmanuel Centre for the Study of Science, Religion and Society at the University of Qld. His lecture for this year’s Institute Day is entitled Real Value and Meaning for our Times, and will argue the need for a recovery of Christian Platonism to restore the realities of ‘meaning’ and ‘value.’
