Many of the plants occur over a wide area of the state. In the spring, from August to November, the majority burst forth in a riot of colour, and it is on these that we have concentrated the purpose of this book. The area we have endeavored to cover is all readily accessible by either major or good secondary roads, and extends through the coastal plain from Busselton in the south to north of Geraldton, taking in the western fringe of the Darling Range; then inland through to Mullewa in the northern wheatbelt, and south through Coalseam Reserve, Mingenew, Moora and Ne Norcia. In the south we have included plants from the Stirling Range, Karri forest, the Albany district and along the south coast.
